How long does it take to see a therapist? Do you have a waiting list?
We respond to all requests and/or questions about appointments and psychotherapist availability within 3 business days. We keep a wait list, and work closely with you to identify your specific scheduling needs and preferences.
Do you offer weekend and evening appointments?
Evening and weekend requests are the most popular, we may not have openings that fit your exact scheduling needs, but we will do our best!.
Does Cal Care Therapy offer a sliding scale (reduced fees)?
Yes. Our Sliding Scale services are available on a limited basis. The psychotherapist holds a portion of her caseload specifically for individuals who require a sliding scale, or reduced fee.
Cal Care Therapy is committed to increasing access to psychotherapy services for underserved communities and folx who require reduced fees. Given that we receive many inquiries about our sliding scale rates, we understand that we fall short in this commitment daily, as we’re unable to match every person who inquire about reduced fees.
Does Cal Care Therapy charge the same for relationship therapy and family therapy as they do for individual therapy?
Individual sessions are $155. Couples/Family Sessions are $165.
How does Cal Care Therapy communicate with my doctor, my other providers, and/or other people of my choice?
We believe it is important for those who are caring for you to communicate and coordinate services. We will share information with others only after discussing this with you and only after you have signed an authorization for us to share information. You may also decide what type of information we will share and how frequently.
Can I bring a pet?
Building policy prohibits animals such as dogs or cats from being inside the building, unless you rely on the animal for assistance and the animal is a certified service animal.
Where is your office?
Our office is located at 110 South Montclair Street Suite 103 Bakersfield, CA 93309. It is on the ground floor of the building. There is free parking in the parking lot.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you wish to cancel your appointment, you must give 24 hours notice or a late fee will be charged.
What should I do prior to my first appointment?
Before arriving for your first appointment, it may be helpful for you to do a few things:
First, you may choose to familiarize yourself with our approach to therapy and policies related to clinical services. You may review our About us.
Second, take a moment to think about what questions you might have for your therapist during your first sessions. It may also be helpful to think about what you would like to accomplish through your participation in a therapeutic relationship. Please remember that you do not have to tell your therapist “everything” during your first session. The first few months of therapy are an assessment of fit.
During this phase, and throughout the course of therapy, we welcome and encourage you to assess if your therapist is able to support you with your therapeutic goals. In turn, your therapist will assess if they believe they are able to offer you the support you identify that you are looking for.

The very first session is an opportunity to share enough to begin to determine the fit between you and your therapist. As you continue in therapy, you will continue to shape and clarify your goals.
Is the Cal Care Therapy office physically accessible to all persons? (entering the building and once inside the building)
Yes. We are located on the ground floor. All bathrooms in the building are wheelchair accessible and meet ADA requirements. If you have requests or questions about accessibility, please ask the therapist prior to your first appointment.
